What is SalvageDealerLink.com ?

SalvageDealerLink.com (SDL) - Is a ground breaking all-in-one software solution five years in the making. This is what the industry has been waiting for.

Salvage Dealer Link was founded by a motorcycle salvage recycling family. The owners realized that this industry was being much neglected in comparison to the automotive industry. This is due in part to the motorcycle to passenger car ratio. They spoke to many software developers about making this site, but it was just too big of a job for such a small market. Unfortunately, just as much time and money had to be invested to develop this software service as it would be for the car market, which had already been done. Not to be kept down, the owners spent countless hours over he last five years and all their savings to get this site to the point you see it at now. Please read further and see really how exciting this site will be to use.

Below we explain the inventory system, how our system searches, how you can sell parts while the customer is on the phone, print and invoice and remove the part from inventory all with just a few clicks of your mouse. We will also explain how we can integrate the locator right onto your website for your customers to use to search your inventory.

What our site offers - SDL offers dealers a simple point and click parts entry system, like no other, to inventory your used parts. We also have the same point click parts search format. No more typing in searches different from other dealers and not finding the parts you need, and no more getting the wrong model code for bike. All dealers registered can enter their entire inventory of parts they wish to sell. Dealers now have an integrated inventory system, which so far does not exist for the power sports salvage business. As if that isn't enough reason to use this service, they even linked all the dealers' inventory together. Now when a customer calls, you can search in house inventory by a simple point and click format to see if you have the part they need. Even entry level employees that don't know the industry that well, or have not been around your shop long enough to know off the top of their head if you may have that part, can now give a 100% answer if you have the part they need. And if you don't have that part, the potential sale is not gone, you can pull up all registered dealers inventory with the click of a mouse and see who does have it, see dealer to dealer wholesale pricing, what the part costs retail, and even sort the results page by closest supplying dealer, or by the cheapest price. They you just mark it up a little and get your customer the part he/she was looking for. This is all done by using the site true or self generate interchange system. (Read below for details on how the site physically works. And more of the site options offered)

How the true interchange system works- These Makes; (Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda ,Kawasaki and Buell) have been entered into our system, some all the way back to the 1986 and use our true interchange system with OEM part numbers. Note: We are currently working with the manufactures to get oem part number for all the make out thre all the way back to 1970 and some earlier. As you enter parts off parts bikes they will be given a part number for each part. The software will store each dealer’s inventory and refer to each part by its part number. When you search a part by the same point click search format, the computer search for the part number that coincides with the part requested. By doing this, it will bring up parts from different year bikes, and or different makes and models, as long as the part number are the same. Same part number means same part. They are interchangeable. More parts the dealers put into inventory, more results you will get per search. This feature may also let dealers know what parts will fit from other bikes for same application that they may not know otherwise.

How our self building interchange system works - This is an ingenious creation. They are so many different makes out there in the world today, and they are constantly changing models they offer. It is not cost efficient to enter every part number for every part off every bike out there. But a computer has not way of knowing what parts off what bikes will work on other bikes with out matching part numbers. We have a developed this self building interchange system. The system starts out empty, but that's okay. If dealer don't have the part to sell, customers won't find it anyway. When a dealer enters any part for one of the makes on our list, outside of the big four, the software will generate a special part number for that part. For example: On a fictional bike, say a 1952 Triumph XB1300, you have a front rim. When you submit that part to our system, our software will issue this part number, (TriumphXB1300frontrim1952). This may seem confusing and long. But there reason for this is there will be only one part to match this unique part number, and impossible to duplicate. Now if you go do a search for a part using this system, you will see this part number will appear in the partial part# search field just before the search button. (Refer to partial part# search below). If you press search, you will only find dealers that entered that exact matching part number from only that year. In the partial part# search field you can backspace out the last digit of the year and it show all matches from 1950-1959, a ten year span. This saves many searches, and on hard to find items it is worth to get a search result and call the dealer to see if a different year fits. You can also back out two digits and search a 100 year span, see results and call the dealers on the years you know matches the part you need.

How our partial part# search works- In addition to assisting the self building interchange as described just above, there is another unique use for this option. When searching one of the big four Japanese makes, you will see that painted parts will have more of the same part listed for that year and list the colors offered. For example: If you go to the Find Parts page and search a 2004 Honda CBR 100rr front cowling, you will see there are three, a black, red and a silver to choose from. Not you know what you need, but the question is if you can't get an exact bolt on color match, would you want to see if anyone has a paintable one available? If the answer is yes, look at the three part numbers before you choose one. You will notice that they are pretty much the same except for the last two letters, these are the color codes for Honda for this part. Now feel free to click the color you desire and you will notice that the part number fill in, in our partial part# search field. Now this field is designed so that you can backspace out just the color code for this part. In this case the part number (64211MEL000ZA ) you would just backspace out the Z and the A, the only part that is uncommon to all three choices, and when you perform your search the software will show you all dealers that have inventoried that part. You will see results from other years, and all different colors. This will apply to all color codes parts; frames, wheels, plastic, etc. Pay attention because different manufacturers have longer color codes to back out. You should be able to spot them when the similar parts are lined up together.

Search Results Pages - This is the page you see after you press the search button. If you do not get any results, double check your search on top of this page is correct. If it is, this means no dealers currently have that part entered in the system, yet. This is a good time to click are parts hotline button at the top of the page to post the part you need on our live forum. Dealers will check this daily to see what customers are looking for that they still may have, or will use it as a market report to see customers need and will get at the next sale. More on the parts hotline below. The search results page will show you what dealers have parts that will work for you, how far they are from you, pricing, and condition of part. You can also re-organize this page by clicking on the categories on top of the page. You can organize from nearest to furthest, by year, and my favorite, cheapest to most expensive.

Zip Code entry feature - This is for the public to enter so they can see parts results from closest to furthest and to help figure out shipping. Same for dealers, but since dealers are registered computer remembers zip code as a default when you are signed in.

Inventorying parts - Dealers, we could not have made this any easier. And believe us, we tried. We know you dealers have many parts bikes, and many parts to inventory. Adding parts is simple as clicking Add Parts button, enter your VIN, enter your bike's control number, or stock number, click year, make and model, and the List Parts button to populate parts field. Parts field will automatically fill in below. Each bike is different for the true interchange vehicles (big four). Parts are listed in alphabetical order ascending A-Z. First step is to look at the bike you are tearing down and decide if more parts are damaged or good. Say you get a bike with just a bad motor from a customer, and all looks usable but the motor. You can just click on the plus sign at very top of the +/- column and all parts will fill in. From here you just click the negative sign for parts you will not be selling, or that are damaged, and only the good parts will be left, and ready to be submitted. Now when you first sign up with us, we will ask you what you would like the used retail price to show and the wholesale price as a default from the manufacturers suggested retail price as new. This feature is awesome. Next to each part you will see the new price. In the retail section for example; if you decide you want end user to pay 50% of new it will have that filled in for you. And for wholesale, you may want to offer an additional 15% off for fellow dealers to move your parts, this will also automatically be filled in. As a dealer ourselves, this is like a dream come true. Now these prices are not set in stone, you can easily choose any parts and adjust it before submitting parts list. Some parts are not worth half of new, and some are worth more than half. You know your market.

Remove Parts feature - This button is for Dealers only. Here you enter the last six of you vin or the entire vin if you like, and the software will pull up the parts you have entered for this vehicle. You can un-check the part that is no longer available or click submit to update vehicle. This is not a feature which you will use a lot, because as you invoice out parts our software automatically pulls sold parts from inventory. More on that below under Invoicing Parts. This is handy if parts is damaged, lost, or whole parts bike is sold.

Invoicing parts out - This is for Dealers only. As you are logged in and when you have done a part search, you will see on the results page a spot up at the top to enter your salesman name or number, you can add parts to a cart. After this you will see a confirmation page of part that is in the cart. You can search more parts for customer, or click the check out tab. When you are ready to check out the next page is where you fill in the customers information, shipping cost, tax if applicable, and shipping address if different. Then you click submit and you will see your invoice with your company information, customers information, price, tax amount, shipping and total. By clicking to this invoice page the parts have automatically been pulled from inventory and will no longer come in the search engine. Refer to registration page and Plan and Pricing section for upgrade features to add you custom invoice to our software.

Sold Parts button - Dealer only feature. This is a working feature. We will be upgrading with additional software. This feature will let you pull up parts sold in a chosen time frame of your choice. This is good if a customer invoice needs to be pulled and referred to. You can organize bike top categories, customer name, date, part, etc. And more valuable feature is this gives you the capability to export the sales into an excel spread sheet for you accounting software or for you accountant. This will be laid out nicely and easy to do your books weekly, monthly, or at years end. Refer to registration page and Plan and Pricing section for upgrade features to add this to your usage plan.

Parts hotline feature - Public can only post they parts wanted here. This is a nice feature that will prove useful until dealers get their inventory entered. This allows dealers and public to post parts wanted adds that dealers can look through and quote pricing. Also great to find parts you need for your customers or bikes you are building. We have separated the parts for sale forum to make quoting easier, don't have to try to spot parts for sale from parts wanted ads. All our forums allow you to post photos if you like. You also have the option of saving incoming messages, quotes, and reply to adds privately or choose to post your reply for all to see. Forum will also remember where you left off viewing adds, let you know when you have unread messages, and view announcements from Salvage Dealer Link management. More features below -

- FAQ- Frequently asked questions. This page should list most questions you may have. Just click on your question and will jump you right down to a recommended resolution. If you don't see your question click the contact button and send an email to the appropriate department. - Search - This feature is very helpful. Here you can search and narrow down results in for the forum of your choice. You can enter key words and search partial matches also. Great if you want to blow out some overstocked parts, or sell parts off an odd ball bike. Just search the want adds for what you have and just see the customers looking for the parts off the bike you have. - User Groups- Dealer only option. Another valuable option. We have created custom groups for specific lines, or types of bikes. And dealer is able to contact us also to start their owner user group for members they would like to deal with directly. Whoever starts the group will be the moderator and will specify who is allowed to join. No limit on number of group that can be created. This feature is good to have for many reasons. Nice to find out who specialized in certain lines, like offroad for instance. Instead of posting to a general forum, you can request parts directly from the dealers that deal in that the most. Shorter list to look through, faster response time. We have started some user groups to give you an idea; Goldwings, Harleys, Dirt Guys, Watercraft, Snowmobiles, an Kz 900s, and one for BMWs. Let us know if would like to start a user group any time.

Features we are working on now - Coming this summer. - Vehicles for sale page- Dealers can list whole and parts bikes for sale, with photos, description. Some dealers need bikes other can't sell. Also some dealers get parts bike cheaper than other and are willing to sell to larger dealers that part them out faster. Also great for locating bikes for you customers. All bikes will be in one forum with one photo, description and dealer contact info. By clicking on vehicle page will expand to more photos in higher resolution.

- Parts label printing - This feature will be available very soon. Before you send off parts to inventory, you will be able to select to print labels for each parts. These will print small labels with laser printer that you will be able to attach to parts being inventoried. It will print out year, make, models, VIN, and stock number if you have one. Depending on software and cost, we may include bar coding. Dealers should let us their thoughts on this.

- Aftermarket parts inventory- This feature will bring in aftermarket companies with their part numbers and you will be able to sell and search OEM parts or aftermarket replacement or upgrade. We know many dealers stock these parts. Even now we recommend when you inventory a parts bike, to list aftermarket levers, windscreens, etc, just mention that in parts description.

- Instant chat- A feature that will show if you the dealer is online currently and you can chat with customer instantly to answer their questions. Something customers can do while they are at work without getting in trouble. Great for busy dealers that multitask, chat and look up parts or talk on the phone at the same time.

- Customer quote number- This feature will allow you to quote a customer pricing or package deals and assign them a quote number. So when they call back they can just read back the number, you can pull it up an see who quoted it, and save time from looking it back up again.

- More vehicle types- Next on the list to add to our system is the off- road vehicles and scooters. After that it will add jet skis and then snowmobiles.
